宜蘭大學與日本知名大學，透過網路，建立氣象資料互換、連絡平台，日前已正式啟用，未來將擴展到地方風景、生活等層面，讓宜蘭的許多影像和資料，走上國際資訊舞台。
宜大電機資訊學院院長趙涵捷昨表示，地球生活環境資訊系統（Live Ｅ！），是由日本學術界及工業界聯合開發研究的計畫，使用大量低廉價格的感測節，來形成網路連結，並透過部署在世界各地廣大的節點網路，取得各區的環境資訊，經上傳主系統後，與網路搜尋引擎酷狗（Ｇoogle Ｅarth）結合，供各界上網瀏覽、參考。
他指出，為配合這套系統，該校所設的氣象台，共有5個監測元件：溫度、溼度、壓力、風向風速和雨量，透過感測器、網路，即時傳輸出去，目前是日本「Ｌive Ｅ！」計畫，在台灣第一個合作開發夥伴。
